Error Messages and Problems

1024 x 768 Screen Resolution
I get an error during installation that my computer must be in 1024 x 768 screen resolution. I don't know how to change this, or my computer does not support this.
To change your screen resolution, right-click anywhere in an open area on your Windows desktop. From the pop-up menu select
Properties (or
Personalize on Windows Vista). In the
window that appears, select the
Settings tab (or the
Display Settings option on Windows Vista) to change your settings. Change your screen resolution to 1024 x 768 or higher.
If you cannot change your resolution to 1024 x 768 or higher, you will be unable to see the needed parts of the program to successfully submit an order. You will need to either install the software on a different machine, or upgrade your graphics card (and perhaps your monitor) to support the higher resolution.
Upgrade Media Player
When I run the program, I get an error that I must upgrade Media Player. The program uses Windows Media Player, version 9 or greater.
Go to
www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer to upgrade your Windows Media Player.
Failed Order Submission — ISP File Size Limit
I get an error that my order was not successfully submitted because of file size limitations.
This error usually indicates that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has a limitation on the size of files that can be uploaded through the internet. You may wish to call your provider and attempt to resolve the issue. Another option is to take the software and your photos to a friend's or family member's computer to submit your movie order.
Program Won't Start
My aVinci Studio program won't start.
If you are running Windows XP
Media Center Edition, and the program will not run when you click the shortcut, find the
aVinci Studio icon on your desktop and right-click it. Select
Properties from the pop-up menu. On the
Shortcut tab, modify the
Start in folder shown by putting
\Bin at the very end of the path, immediately before the double-quote character. Click OK. If you use the shortcut on the Windows
Start menu, find the shortcut, right-click it, and follow the same procedure.
On Windows XP
Home Edition, if you are running a version not updated with XP Service Pack 2, the shortcuts don't work when their working folder is set to the Bin folder.
aVinci Studio does not currently run on a Macintosh computer.
Program Crash
aVinci Studio keeps crashing.
From Windows
Media Center Edition, the initial running of the application from the installation may crash, but from the shortcut it works fine.
Poor Picture Quality
My pictures seem to have lost quality when put into a movie.
Photos taken with most digital cameras are higher in quality than the quality supported by DVD technology. On a computer, you may notice that when the movie is compared side by side to your original pictures, your original pictures are better in quality than the same pictures when seen in your finished DVD movie. In the process of making your movie, your pictures, as well as supporting images in the movie, are "
downsampled" (reduced in size and quality) to conform to the 720 x 480 screen resolution of standard DVD technology.
DVD Players
My movie won't play on my DVD player.
A very few DVD players are known to have problems with DVD movie playback.
First try playing the DVD in a different player. If it plays from another player,
this means the DVD itself is good. Please let us know the make and model of
the player that fails. (Contact us through the
Technical
Support & Customer Service page.)
